Came here with a friend out of curiosity and enjoyed most of the fare we purchased! Located in the corner of Potrero and Freeport, Mahoroba serves baked goods with Japanese influence along with coffee. We ordered: - Sunrise bun - pineapple bun (bolo bao) vibes - Green tea sunrise bun - also pineapple bun vibes but with green tea crackling. Both of these were just fine. I enjoyed the milk bun consistency of the bread. - Anpanman choco - Original Kobe cream - Green tea Kobe cream - These three had VERY generous filling, which I appreciated. The filling also had a pudding consistency, which isn't everyone's favorite. - Cream cheese bun - This was a fan favorite when I brought this home to the SO. Definitely get this! - Chicken teriyaki meatball bun - This was only ok. - Bacon and egg bun - I would skip this one as the bacon was very thin (almost undetectable), and the egg overpowered the entire bread. - Hot dog bun - I really liked this one as the hot dog was actually like an Evergood hot link sausage halved and baked in the bread. A lil' spicy but a lot of flavor if you're into it. Service was great. The dude behind the counter was very attentive and I did feel a little pressure to order because of how he grabbed the tray and followed us around as we were looking at each display case. Overall, great tasting baked goods and I would want to reorder some items as well as try new ones!

I've driven by Mahoraba bakery a lot on my way to other shopping in the area, and decided to take the leap and stop by for some goodies for the fam. What a great surprise! I love the quaint little shop that bakes tons of goodness. If you're looking for that super sweet, you can barely wait treat, this isn't your place. If you're looking for that lightly sweet, enjoyable on its own, with tea, or coffee, jump in with both hands, and enjoy every bite! There's one entrance, and one exit. Jump in line, and your eyes will feast upon so many choices. I love that they number some of the items based on customer favorites. The "hot dog" is this slightly spicy kielbasa with cheese, baked into a light fluffy bread. That first bite, you get that snap, and then that yummy taste that makes you want more. The pastries are all tasty! The family devoured them. We tried to have everyone share. Notice I said tried. We shared the chocolate pastry ( it has the swirl on top) and it was a lovely cream with another layer of chocolate cream enrobed in this yeasty bread that made each bite oh so good. Their prices are very reasonable, and you'll want to try one of everything. Just do it! They do charge for putting the pastries in a box, but the bags are free. Each pastry is individually wrapped, which is nice especially if you're picking up treats for a group. The customer service is great, and it's a must try!

I've been coming to Mahoroba since they first opened over a decade ago! They have great Japanese pastries. I haven't ever had anything from Mahoroba that I've disliked, but my favorite item is probably the Strawberry Anko Cream (red bean & whipped cream with one strawberry inside). Another go to item is the Blueberry & Cream Cheese Pie. New items I've enjoyed recently include the Apple Pie, Tropical Dessert & Raspberry Cream Cheese. Their more pastry-like items aren't really very buttery/flaky, so i prefer going for the more Japanese influenced flavors/items. They have some good savory items as well; Teriyaki Meatball is one of my favorites. Definitely a must try for anyone who likes fresh desserts! Since it's a Japanese bakery, there are items here that I haven't seen anywhere else. However, if you want the best selection (rather than having to pick from the remaining items), don't wait until late in their business hours to drop by! Side Note: They have recently started charging $1 for a box.

Gem of a bakery. You can find Japanese classic baked goods such as an pan(red bean bread) and green tea bread along with western baking. They really do everything so well! I was very overwhelmed with the vast selection. But the staff was patient and offered suggestions that really helped. Now let's talk food. I went overboard. I got: Classic An Pan which is sweet red bean bread. It's got generous amount of red beans so good! Strawberry red bean cream bread. Omg this one! The cream is light and milky along with sweet read bean and a pillowy soft bread! Chefs kiss! Green tea Kobe cream bread. Bread is sooo soft and the green tea custard is a perfect compliment. Blueberry cream cheese danish is flaky, sweet and creamy. Croissant is buttery but doesn't feel heavy. Maybe not like the best croissant in the world but really good and comforting. Ham and cheese croissant is savory and cheesy and so good too. The place is small but the ordering process is very efficient so you don't have to worry about waiting too long. Love the cozy vibes. I will be back for more!

We came here with recommendations of friends and this place doesn't disappear us at all! Around noon, this place has constant long line for people to order. The staff was pretty efficient, just their popularity that results in the busy environment. The buns are so soft and we really like the plain buns. Not too much interest on the crème but it's an interesting experience. Also the buns offered here are not expensive at all. this place locates near a japanese markets
